Whenever I play NHL 98 in Glide mode, something weird happens.
When I'm in the menus, Glide mode does not take effect; it's still in 640x480, likely in software mode.
It isn't until I actually play a game, however, that the game enters Glide mode, and becomes the resolution of the desktop, and in hardware mode.
This puts me off a bit, as in NHL 99 through 2002, Glide mode comes in effect immediately after the exe is launched.
This makes the NHL 98 experience inconsistent, and it kind of loses any immersion that exists in later titles.
The resolution of the menus
The resolution of the gameplay (I wanted two pictures of the same player, but the file size limit prevents this from happening.)

Re: NHL 98 Switches Modes between the Menus and Gameplay
The glide API (or a 3d API) isn't imperative for 2d parts like menus etc. So -- yes, 640×480, as it must be.
Use a different wrapper for the 2d part of NHL 98. DGVoodoo2 etc.
ASUS P4P800 SE, Pentium4 3.2E/2 GiB DDR400 (3-3-3-8), Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP, 2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Audigy 2 ZS.
Windows XP SP3 Pro Rus (w/o the POSReady hack), Catalyst 14.4, Voodoo2 W2k 1.02.00 drivers.

Thank you. This worked out perfectly! I used DGVoodoo to handle that.Gamecollector wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 9:23 pmThe glide API (or a 3d API) isn't imperative for 2d parts like menus etc. So -- yes, 640×480, as it must be.

Update: Using DGVoodoo... the menus are back to running in 640x480 mode.
