Why You Should Not Buy A Cheap Vacuum Cleaner

Sometimes it's a smart move to buy budget gadgets. Especially when that thing doesn't stand out much from their more expensive higher tier. Most people will buy a cheap vacuum cleaner for under $100.00 and consider it a bargain because they have all the main features that more expensive ones claim to have. But here are two reasons why you should never buy a cheap vacuum cleaner.

HEPA Filter Is Not Enough

As we mentioned in our previous Shark NV360 reviews, HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. The letter "A" sometimes means "Absorbing" or "Arrestance", which all suggest that if a filter has HEPA qualification, it can absorb 99.95% (E.U standard) or 99.97% (U.S standard) of particles with 0.3 μm diameter. Our eyes can't see these super tiny particles, but they are the main reasons that cause asthma and respiratory allergies to humans.

Having HEPA filtration is a standard in modern days vacuum cleaners. In fact, you can easily find vacuums under $ 100.00, having the HEPA logo proudly stamped on their bodies. So why should we pay for a more expensive model? The answer is that HEPA is not enough (even useless) if the vacuum cleaner is not completely sealed.

To make it simple, a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter and a completely sealed body will suck on all the small and unhealthy particles on your floor and trap them inside the dust cup. Whereas a non-sealed vacuum will release those particles back into the air. We did some tests with cheap models under $100.00, and the test results of the air condition after vacuuming is mostly at a dangerous level.

And to make it even worse, cheap vacuum cleaners will try to confuse you with meaningless labels like "premium filtration" or "odor trapping filter". The most affordable vacuum with HEPA qualification, plus a sealed system, we can find in the market is the Shark navigator lift away deluxe NV360, which has a retail price of $ 150.00. So the next time you go out buying a new vacuum, please make sure to find the "complete seal" claim on the box.

Cheap Vacuum Can Not Go Well With Hard Floor

Back in time when vacuum cleaners were first invented, they are used for cleaning carpets only. So you are supposed to sweep through hard floors. Most vacuums nowadays are still not equipped with the practical ability to clean hard floors, especially cheap ones. And the manufacturers do not make it clear in their box also.

First, your vacuum needs a seal line at the back of the powerhead to prevent the dust from being blown backward. And then, you need to have the ability to turn off the Brushroll whenever you need. We tried to find cheap vacuums under $ 100.00, which have these two features but had no luck whatsoever. We hope some budget vacuum designers will look into this matter in the future. But until now, please stick to the more expensive and useful vacuum models out there if you prefer to have a happy and healthy cleaning routine. And we recommend you check out the Shark NV360 review, it meets all the qualifications, and it's not costly either.
