CarnEvil

Postby tfishell » Sun Dec 27, 2015 12:12 am

I just noticed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDULs7H-42w (about 20 seconds in) that, in the intro, 3Dfx and Glide are both mentioned. Does that mean this game used the Glide API, or is there something else going on? (The recent "Outrage" thread said this: "About the 3dfx logo - some publishers have used this logo as the "real 3d" synonym.")

https://www.google.com/#safe=off&q=carn ... 3dfx+glide
http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... me_id=7285 - mentions "The game uses the 3DFX graphics chip for video processing."

I'm just curious, thanks.

Well, I wish this game and all others Midway arcade titles were ported on PC (like NFL Blitz etc). But unfortunately - this game is arcade hardware only. No PC version. So - just use MAME to play. :)

And yes, Midway Seattle Hardware have Voodoo Graphics (2 MB FBI + 4 MB TMU) inside. And there are even Voodoo3 driven arcades.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

If it's a pc-based hardware (like Taito type-x hardware), there are a lot of unofficial arcade-to-pc rips out there. I guess it's not technically impossible to do that with Carnevil too.
