New game using voodoo cards found: XTom3d

Postby myloch » Thu Feb 26, 2015 10:41 pm

Korea seems to be a prolific land of new discoveries in the marvelous world of 3dfx titles :D

Today I present:

Made by Jamie in 1999, as you can see, this was originally an arcade release, then they released it for pc too :o
(I just LOVE how arcade versions used to go hand in hand with pc versions in korea!)

Technical:
"The board appears to be a whole PC in a box. The board contains a socketed 370 processor, a 3DFX Banshee chip set, and a stack of ISA bus extension cards, one of which is sound and another appears to contain game ROMs. The 3-D performance of the Banshee chip set on this board excels that of a PC video card using the Voodoo3 chip set, however." (source: http://www.arcade-museum.com)

As for all these pc based arcade boards, pc/arcade versions are practically 1:1,
included the support for Voodoo cards (and Nglide! :D)

A lot of people talked about a demo but the software house is long dead and it seemed to be lost forever:
it was really a bitch to find! I fixed a little problem (MSVCRTD.DLL not found) and I uploaded it here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/bo71z9

Have phun! :ugeek:

Well, the game itself uses OpenGL.
It includes minigl/ICD for Voodoo Graphics/2/Banshee. And you can select this minigl/ICD through setup. So - the game fits to the "minigl" list.

It looks like I have the backup of this game. Cd creation date is 30 Jun 1999. Cd-image have 17 CDA tracks.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Geez, you had me questioning whether it was in MAME yet.

Just a "skeleton driver" for now...
