I have Xp 32-bit for the old games. And the Win98SE for the more old.
You are seriously believing NecroSoft and Nvidia/ATi will return DX5/DX6 support in the new Windows? 8-bit texturing, palettized textures?
Ddraw incompatibility in Windows7 is not the example for you?
Any new Windows was, is and will be less compatible.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

64bit versions of windows do not include the NTVDM because many 16bit instructions are not available when the cpu is running in 64bit long mode

Furthermore, NTVDM has never supported running DOS Glide games even if nglide is installed. If TombRider runs, it will most certainly not be glide accelerated.

nglide doesn't provide dos glide driver so of course no dos glide game can work with it, but for example dgvoodoo provides dos glide driver so tomb raider can work with it.

not via ntvdm

the glide driver requires bare metal access

dg voodoo have dos drivers for tombraider that how it worked on xp .i traid it but it dident worked for me only dos box and nglide worked for me .am now testing tombraider on beta windows 8 on my frinds pc and it works good .windows 8 have support for old do and 16 bit but it is nothing like playing the game via dosbox+nglide+3dfx patch
so zeus my frind why not inserting dos driver withe nglide? i think it will be good idea :D

It's unreasonable to create something that will be worse than existing true DOS emulation software.
