Perhaps it will be clear when Windows 8 is released?
But if you're talking about this: http://www.askvg.com/windows-8-comes-wi ... on-support it seems more like the other way around. It says "This feature is only present in 32-bit edition of Windows 8 Developer Preview." 32-bit Windows versions have always had support for 16-bit applications, but it seems with this dialog it will be possible to turn it off.

i think it not possible until nGlide will be developed as 3dfx wrapper for pure dos. Wrapping from dos 3dfx to windows d3d  Causes more work? Stupid waste of time, its global problem to develop dos program that will use windows library .dll file, i even cant imagine possible this or no.

Anyway currently dosbox is best way.

Hmm... interesting news. But since we have DOSBox the more important question is how many 'windows glide games' will work in Windows 8? Let's hope this will be at least the same number as in Windows 7.

As gulikoza already said 32-bit Windows versions have always had support for 16-bit applications.
The only difference is that right now it is turned off as default.
You may be sure nobody will install 32-bit windows as it is limited to using max 2 GB RAM, no 64-bit applications support, etc.
The only usage for that is if you make a dual boot (both 32-bit and 64-bit windows installed) and your new hardware doesn't have drivers for older 32-bit windows versions. But if it doesn't have 32-bit windows drivers at all you won't be able to use it.

Are you seriously discussing something like "the new Windows will be more compatible with the old games"? Go to hospital, guys... :)
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).
