Yeah, I know this is a forum about glide wrapper but maybe Zeus or other direct3d experts can help with this.
This is a really old win95/98 game with support for early 3d cards in direct3d mode...oh well...of all the cards I had in the past, only voodoo 1 in direct 3d worked correctly with this game, all the others show a black screen (you can actually hear ingame audio, no crash but the graphic is not rendered at all  )
I don't know if this can be patched, I already tried with compatibility modes and even on my legacy machine (win98, directx 7 and voodoo2) I have this damn black screen problem. Note: the game is original (no crack, copy or anything else).

Well, I checked my own cd of "War Gods" - the game worked perfectly in Xp.
P4 3GHz, 2Gb RAM, ATi X850 PE AGP, XpSp3, Dx 9.0c, Catalyst 7.11.
Later I try this game with my second PC - Win7, Pherom, ATi HD 5xxx, but I'm sure the results will be same.

Did you try to lower the video acceleration level?

hi gamecollector, it's a good news that I'm not the only one with this game lol :D
I hope you know the game uses 3d card only during battle rounds. Main menu, character selection and all the other things uses directdraw (and that work for me). I should have wrote that I have black fullscreen during battle rounds. ;)
If you look at the options you can see "use 3d cards during round".

I will try your method.

Hah, any fullscreen mode DISABLE "use 3d card during rounds"? WtF?
Yes, black screen, only sound...
Lowering the acceleration level has no effect...

I remember that back in the day I've been able to correctly visualize 3d accelerated battles. Unluckily I don't remember the 3d card (but probably it was with my old voodoo1) nor the directx version. Oh and I had windows 95 :/ :(

yep, 3d hardware can be used only if you start the game in windowed mode...weird programming indeed!
