Difference between OpenGL and MiniGL with nGlide

Postby ochentay4 » Fri Feb 24, 2017 2:49 am

Hi, I wanted to ask if there is any difference between OpenGL games and MiniGL games with nGlide.
I'm asking as Return to Castle Wolfenstein from GOG runs with nGlide instead of OpenGL.
This question applies to all MiniGL games or any other game that has standard OpenGL and nGlide support.

Depends on the game but most look pretty much the same. The reason why GOG puts nGlide in some of their releases is to increase compatibility with modern systems (two working renderers are better than one :)), but RTCW isn't one of them.

It starts with nGlide because you have it installed in the system and the game has been programmed to treat 3dfx rendering as primary. To use OpenGL, simply rename "gl" folder to "gl_".
