Auto resizing 512x384

Postby Gamecollector » Fri Sep 14, 2012 2:06 pm

Currently many LCD monitors (my, as the example) aren't capable to show 512x384 resolution correctly. But - there is no such problem with 1024x768.
Unfortunately several 3dfx games are hardcoded to 512x384 (Gex: Enter the Gecko as the example).
So, Zeus, if you can and want - please add the option to nGlide configurator to automatically convert 512x384 nGlide output to 1024x768 (without the filtering etc, just the doubled pixels) if the user want.
Tnx.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

?

You can set 1024x768 in configurator. What's the problem?

I want to check the checkbox once and then forget about this trouble. No need for resizing ALL games and all resolutions, just the damn 512x384.
Plus the high-resolution modes in nGlide are filtered. Excellent quality but no authentity. :) With the pixel doubling the game will be looking same as with 512x384, the difference is just for the monitor.

Then again, Zeus, your wrapper = your choice.

I understand what you ask for, but think again...

This option would be barely used and confusing for the users since nobody cares for the authenticity with the input resolution. The only thing that matters is the authenticity with the output resolution (e.g. 1024 should be 1024, not stretched 512).

Stretching 512x384 to 1024x768 on a LCD would give you the authenticity with the input resolution and... blurry image because 1024x768 is not its native resolution.

And yet, there's also one thing...
512x384 is no longer supported with recent Radeon/GeForce cards (in this case nGlide uses 1024x768 if Resolution='By app' is selected in the configurator without even bothering the user).

If you don't want to open the configurator when testing a 512x384 game, I suggest you to use 3dfxer's tool - nGlide starter (after he updates it for 1.00).

No, they are not. nGlide doesn't change any rendering parameters.

No problem. Feel free to ask.

Oh, *censored*. My monitor isn't working correctly with 512x384 and 640x400 too.
Zeus, if you will be so kind - please make the selectable option "auto stretch 512x384 and 640x400 to 640x480".
