Driver FMVs freeze the game

Post by Helegad »

Hello,

Driver runs beautifully with NGlide, I'm very happy with it. Dat fog  My only issue is that when FMVs are supposed to play, they just freeze the application, and the desktop resolution is stuck to 640x480, which can prevent ending the application in Task Manager. Is this a known glitch, and/or is there a fix for general FMV problems? Perhaps a way to disable the NGlide when it detects FMV playback?

Cheers

EDIT: Here's some extra info:
Driver is patched and the copy protection has been stripped; the 2.1 FMV fix doesn't help.
Using any Driver-configured resolution other than 640x480 makes Driver change resolution going between the menu (hardcoded to 640x480) and the game itself (resolution set by user in Driver config); this would only be an inconvenience if Driver didn't crash when attempting to go from the game back to the menu. It doesn't freeze like my OP issue, but it does crash. Using 640x480 is perfect for Driver under NGlide; wonderfully smooth transitions between the menu and game, and the game itself is rendering at the selected resolution in the NGlide config, but the FMVs... well, you can disable the FMVs, but it wouldn't be Driver without them.

Post your PC specs and Windows version, Helegad.
This may be important.

It also would be nice if you could check crash module and offset.

Here's how:
1) crash the game
2) open Event Viewer (click Start button and type "eventvwr")
3) click Windows Logs->Application
4) Double click on a "game.exe" record with red icon and look at the "Fault offset" and "Fault module" fields
5) post both values here

Apologies for the late reply.

My specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Core 2 Extreme QX6850
ECC DDR2 RAM
GeForce GTX 750 Ti with 365.19 drivers

I can't post the fault codes because the game doesn't crash, it freezes...

Tested Driver with nglide 1.04 annd 1.05 FMV are playing fine.

Only once i get a black screen after playing an FMV and i had to close the game via task Manager.

But in 9 of 10 tests the FMV plays fine.

Helegad, have you your cd in to play the game? The FMVs are not installed to Hard Disk, so CD is needed .
