How to correct stretched aspect ratio in Tomb Raider

Postby 6Hypnone » Sun Jun 05, 2016 4:08 am

No matter what setting I use in the configurator, the game is always stretched. How do I fix this?

Open your graphics driver panel and set "scaling mode" to "aspect ratio":
-AMD
-nVidia

- or -

Open nGlide configurator and set:
-Screen resolution: By desktop
-Aspect ratio: Preserve original

Thank you.
The configurator is already set to those settings.
I found the correct menu settings for the ATI card, but the options to "maintain aspect ratio" and anything else are greyed out. See screenshot.

What do I do?

If configurator is set to the options I suggested there's no way 3d rendering would be stretched. Perhaps you're referring to videos (which are rendered by DOSBox, not by nGlide)?

It would be nice if you could post a screenshot from a game + your card model.

Ok I took a screencap with Fraps, but when I look at it, it looks normal, like it's supposed to. But it really IS stretched. I've altered it in the 1st image in photoshop to show you how it looks on my screen during play.

Also, vid card is ATI Radeon HD4800 series

The screenshot is 640x480 and nGlide is configured to 1920x1080 which means... you're not using nGlide.

Did you get a game on GOG/Steam? If so, you need to open "Tomb Raider 1\DOSBOX" subdirectory (where dosbox.exe resides) and remove glide2x.dll file.

I bought it off Steam and downloaded the UB files.
I also followed the guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =118984427
to restore music and make the UB levels part of the steam TR.

The result is in the screenie. I don't have a dosbox folder. I have a doxbox.exe. within the Tomb Raider (I) folder. I also do not have a glide2x.dll file. I followed all the directions on the guide^^. Maybe that's causing the issue?

*looking to the glide2x.dll file on this picture...
Man, are you really dumb or just a troll?
Delete all glide2x.dll files except windows\system32 or windows\syswow64 ones and try again.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Perform a search among all your HDDs and remove all glide2x.dll, glide3x.dll and glide*.ovl files found except WINDOWS\system32 folder. I think you'll find a few hundred more.
