Asghan: The Dragon Slayer not playable

Postby BR4ZIL » Wed Jun 03, 2015 2:27 am

Despite being classified as "playable" in the compatibility list, the game itself is very broken for me.

Now, i dont really know if its actually glide related or not (i dont know how to diferentiate the video issues/OS issues, since its an old game).

What basically happens is, the game will actually run but crashes almost constantly giving me this kind of message

The file which it fails to open varies, but the crashes are constant and random, it sometimes crashes when i pick an item or kill an enemy, sometimes its when i simply load/reload a game.

All in all i cant play for 5-10 minutes straight without a crash.

Since i cant actually launch the game on any other mode except Glide, i am not sure if this is video related. Directx completely fails to launch.

Also, it seems that the CD Audio completely fails to load too.

Anyone knows a fix for this? Is it just me thats having this problem? or the compatibility page is just wrong?

Oh, i am running Win7 64 bit btw.

I hope you have read this. You must create the _start.cdp file.
CD audio works ok in WinXpSp3.
I will test this game with Vista HP 64-bit (I don't use Win7 or *censored* Win8).

P.S. Yes, constant errors are here. "Wrong malloc" errors can be fixed with the "GlobalMemoryStatusLie" ACT fix but then I got these "can't open" errors. Still I think this can be fixed with the ACT.
Well, it looks like I must to test my collection with this *censored* Vista64bit...

P.S.S. CD audio is ok with Vista HP 64-bit.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 GB DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 AGP (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

It isn't. Otherwise the game wouldn't be marked as Playable on nGlide's compatibility list.

The game currently works only on XP (nobody created a patch for 7/8 so far).
