Is there any way to improve performance on Carma 1 with 1.03

Postby supercar117 » Tue Mar 03, 2015 5:11 pm

I got Carma from Steam and been using nglide both 1.02 and 1.03 but performance is rather bad (Frames jump between 25 and 50 fps) whereas its prefect in Carmageddon 2 (constant 60fps). Is there a way to sort of fix this? I see no people complaining so I'm guessing I'm in a minority or the only one. Thanks in advance

Carma1 is a DOS game. The main culprit here is DOSBox, not nGlide.
So, the only way is faster CPU.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Other than raising internal emulated ram in dosbox.conf (memsize=31), I don't know how to raise fps, by the way as far as I remember Carmageddon 1 engine never shined for its speed and fluidity.

How may cycles you use in Dosbox?

what cpu Type?

Set Output and voodoo to "opengl" ?

Set glide to "true" or "emu" ?

I Play it on a core2quad in Dosbox svn Daum and it works great.

For Max perfomance: you can play it without Dosbox in Windows xp with dgvoodoo or glidos and VDMsound (for Soundblaster Emulation).

And make sure you are using the 3dfx Version
