Test Drive Off Road 2 - 2 bugs

1. In-game, press Esc then QUIT GAME, the game will then exit back to the desktop, when it should go back to the menu. It doesn't crash to desktop with latest test version of dgVoodoo. There's a TDO2_LOG.TXT file generated in the game folder, which contains the following:

This is using Win95 compatibility mode and nGlide 1.03. nGlide I have set to screen res 2560x1440, Aspect 4:3, refresh by app, vsync off, gamma 1.0 and splash screen on. I tried with default res and Aspect, same result.

However using nGlide 1.03 on my old XP machine (again with Win95 compatibility) the game returns to the menu successfully, however it's only running at 1024x768 on there. Changing my main PC to those settings doesn't help either.

2. The shadow under the cars is rendering on top of their wheels. This happens with dgVoodoo too, so it could be a game bug, see the following (sorry, huge screengrab, doh! Open image in new tab...):

Well, the game needs only 2 ACT fixes - IgnoreException and MapMemoryB000. Try them w/o the Win95 compatibility mode.

About the Chenowth DR2 shadow - it's same even with a real Voodoo2. It's the game "feature".

Fullscreen or windowed mode? Windowed mode is a whole different scenario.

Anyway, I will test the game on 8.1 once I find some free time and will report.

I only run the game fullscreen.

I just tested the game on 8.1 and the crashes are random. Sometimes menu works after race, sometimes it doesn't.

EmulateDirectDrawSync (which is a part of W95 compatibility mode) is responsible for this. Microsoft must changed something in it in 8.1 because there were no such problems in XP or 7.

The solution to this is to use what Gamecollector suggested: IgnoreException and MapMemoryB0000 only, instead of full W95 compat mode. I uploaded a patch to compatibility list.
