nGlide's maximum refresh rate option is 120hz?

Postby IceMan » Fri Jan 16, 2015 1:16 am

I have a 144hz monitor, is there any way to either add that refresh rate to the configurator, or is there an ini file or Registry string for the software I can modify?
My PC spec: Win8.1, i7-4970K (not overclocked) MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, Creative Soundblaster ZX, 16GB RAM, Asus Z98-A motherboard, ROG Swift GSYNC monitor

Funny, because I added this option into 1.04 configurator a week ago...

Sounds like 1.04 is going to be good :-)

Can I also ask about the gamma application? At 1.0 it seems overly bright in games (compared to Direct3D versions of the same game). I think on my old Voodoo5 I turned the gamma down to something like 0 then it was identical to Direct3D, but nGlide only goes down to 0.5 and even that seems a bit more gloomy. Any suggestions?

To see the difference quite easily, rung Carmageddon 2 from Carma2_HW.exe, using either no compatibility (= applies gamma) versus Windows7 compatibility (= no gamma applied). I'll also note that whatever the compatibility fix it applies, GSYNC on my monitor is disables with Windows7 (or pretty much any) compatibility mode applied, so I assume it's something to do with how the scene renders to the screen.

But yeah, any advice as to how best set the gamma, to make the games the same darkness as Direct3D, would be cool...

I'm surprised you didn't try other gamma settings before making this post.
It's very easy. If you want to compensate 1.1 to 1.0 set 0.9 in configurator. If you want to compensate 1.3 to 1.0 set 0.7 and so on...

nGlide's gamma range (1.0-/+ 0.5) is more than sufficient. With it you can compensate even as bright games as Tomb Raider.

You couldn't set gamma=0.0 in your V5 panel to match D3D because 0.0 is almost a total blackness.

120Hz is perfectly acceptable to run games on a monitor capable of 3D....60Hz per eye...
