F1 Racing Simulation gets slow after a while

Postby billy336 » Mon Mar 31, 2014 11:36 am

Hi there, im using nglide with F1 Racing Simulation (from Ubisoft 1997)

The Problem is, when I start the game everything works like a charm, great, graphics, and speed, but as I play after a few minutes the game gets slower and slower.

After about about 5-10 Minutes its like I'm racing in slow-motion.

When I safe at this point and start again it runs well again for some minutes.

When I install the game in direct3D settings it works fine but looks terrible - but it wont slow down after a while.

What could be the problem of slowing the game down after a few minutes?

Some System settings:

Windows 7
i5 2500k
8gb ram
Radeon HD 6890

I also tried to run it in vmware virtual windows XP but there its that the game runs too fast (superspeed) in 3dfx
- like if i put the vert sync off.

Problem solved! ;) couldn't get it to work with nglide. With dgvoodoo it works perfect now.

Only thing is I cant change my resolution as high as with nglide...

Hello billy,
how did you get started F1RS with Windows 7?
For now I'm using Windows 7 Prof. N 64-Bit and nglide 1.03. I've installed F1RS on the system partition (30GB NTFS, over 10GB free). After starting it normal or with compatibility mode, I get the error message that there's not enough hard disk space free. So I created a 2GB FAT32 partition and installed it there. But when I start the game now, nothing happens.
greetings
Sven

As I can see from my ACT database - F1 Racing Simulation needs 2 ACT fixes. EmulateGetDiskFreeSpace and VirtualRegistry. The 1st one fixes this "too low HDD space" error.
Load attached .sdb file and install it with ACT or with the "sdbinst -q F1RS.sdb" command.
P.S. And you must install the 1.09 patch, the unpatched version not starts in WinXp and later.

About the slowdown - dunno. I will re-test it. Can you check the RAM amount for the game (in the task manager) at the start and after the slowdown? Maybe the cause is a memory leak.
What about the d3d version?

Also, IIRC the CD must be inserted in the first drive in your system.

Update nGlide too. 1.03 is not the latest version.
Start the game with f1voo.exe
