Interesting...
I have tested Homeworld and - this game have the 3dfx OGL renderer and declares Voodoo1/2 compatibility in the readme for this renderer.
Of course the game not work with my Voodoo2 in WinXp... And with nGlide. "Display mode setting failed. Please select another mode."
Err... The same message is for the "default opengl" renderer. So it looks like the culprit is Homeword itself.

P.S. Ok, "to use OGL run the game in WinNT4Sp5 compatibility mode"... Well, let's see what ACT key fixes this "failed."

P.S.S. Well, after I have removed all ACT fixes except WinNT4Sp5VersionLie - the game still works perfectly with OGL. Damn programmers... The real Voodoo2 works ok, nGlide works ok in 640x480 and 800x600 modes. 1024x768 - cursor traces, broken text. Again, can't test the real hardware, don't have the SLI.

The game is added to the "minigl" list.

Homeworld: Cataclysm is added to the "minigl" list too.
Same ACT fix is needed. Plus the game must be patched to the version 1.01 for Xp.
Same trouble with 1024x768 mode.

Nice find!

Gamecollector wrote:Ok, "to use OGL run the game in WinNT4Sp5 compatibility mode"

Yes, the game looks for MiniGL in \3dfx\WinNT\ folder only if OS_PlatformId = WINNT and OS_Version <= 4. Otherwise it looks for it in \3dfx\Win9x\ folder.

Fixed.

How is this possible? This resolution is not listed in config app for Glide renderer.

Have retested Serious Sam and Serious Sam: SE.
Players screen is fixed.
Lights are seen through walls in Technology Test (both Temple of Models and Temple of Effects).
Serious Sam: SE - wrong drawing ("saw" and z-fighting) is gone, but there is the strange lighting effect on walls - brightness changes because of the distance...
Unpatched Serious Sam can't restart nGlide - "this mode don't support hardware acceleration". The patched version works ok.
Serious Sam - no lens flares/corona on "Alley of the Sphinxes". Strange but Lens flares are ok in Technology Test. Plus it looks like the full scene is too dark...
Seruous Sam: SE - 1024x768 mode crashes to desktop (nt.dll, engine.dll etc).

Ok, now it's listed. I didn't have glide3x.dll in game directory. The game uses it for listing resolutions, but renders with glide2x.dll

Problem fixed. Now 1024x768 is working properly.

"Lights through walls" are fixed.
"Too dark" is fixed.
Lens flares are fixed.
SSSE wall brightness change is fixed.
SSFE 1.0 glide renderer restarting isn't fixed. :)
The game detects this developer version of glide3x.dll as Voodoo5, 1.03 is detected as Voodoo3.
