Re: NGlide versus my glide games collection

I have some info regarding lens flares in NFS5.

The game has a benchmark implemented that it's job is to decide whether lens flares should be disabled or not.
Time is measured live during race so flares may be disabled at any given point (at the beginning of each race they are always enabled).

This wouldn't be bad if the benchmark measured full frame performance or at least if it wasn't so restrictive it can disable them even at 190fps.

I uploaded modified executables into compatibility list.

P.S. Unwrapped game exes from SafeDisc may require EmulateHeap.

What do you propose?

Try to disable multitexturing at advanced options.

Tested, lens flares are ok now. The NFS5 info is edited in the list.
By the way, Zeus, two more questions about these .exes.
1) IIRC NFS5 have another speed glitch - low resolution testures are used if the CPU speed is >1 GHz. It was fixed by someone long ago but I not remember the exact details... Maybe you can add this fix to your executables too? Even if this bug is DX only and not affects the 3dfx mode...
2) Can you be so kind and try to fix another NFS5 glitch? Wrong lighting with "headlights"="projected". Can be seen in the Monte-Carlo track.
Tnx.

This have fixed both troubles. Interesting...

2) is an improvement, not a bugfix so I would rather leave things like this to VEG (assuming he will be interested).

But I will add CPU fix as it affects Glide mode too.

M&m lost formulas and some of the earlier uefa champions league games *maybe* support glide?

Dunno.
Don't have UEFA Champions League 1996/97, but many sources claim this game use dos glide. Statically linked one.
About Silicon Dreams titles (Season 1998/99 and Season 1999/2000) - not sure there were EN PC releases. I have seen the info only about DE ones. And PS ones, of course.
M&M's: the Lost Formulas - don't have the game, can't test.
Well, if I have some info about "this game supports glide" - I add the game here. Until I test this game myself...

Added to the "native" list:

  • M&M's: the Lost Formulas - Boston Animation / Simon & Schuster Interactive, 2000.

    Works ok with nGlide 1.04.

P.S. The game itself is a total *censored* of course...

@myloch: UEFA Champions League Season 1999/2000 - the only remark about glide (and software rendering) is in the readme. But the game itself looks like d3d only. No software/glide rendering support.
Now I'm sure there was the EN PC release. Because there is 1.0.4 EN only patch for this game.

Yep 98 99 had specific option for 3dfx or executable (I don't remember). 99 2000 was released by Eidos in england, germany, France spain and italy at least, and just like previous edition, it had localized texts and commentary in every country. On patches scrolls site, you can find a different 1.04 patch for every different language.

Brother bear uses software and direct3d. No glide.

New glide game found: Les visiteurs - La Relique de Sainte Rolande (french only release by Silmarils)
