well my joy is shortlived - i seems that now the game even in vmware is ctd after a mission even with nglide in all its glory - it was working briefly but then after i had to do a clean install of my nvidia drivers on my host system now the game crashes- it seemed that in all my attempts to install old games here and there i had done something to my drivers enable m1tp2 to work without ctd in vmware player - i wish i knew what it was - somehting in the host system that effected even the guest system - overall i had to do the clean install as i was getting freezes and texture errors in too many other games
oh well - may be this will get fixed eventually

will there be any chance that a new version of Nglide will fix this crashing issue - if just this could be fixed the game will be spectacular again!

Jason said the crash after a mission has nothing to do with glide wrappers. What is the shortest/easiest mission, so I can test it myself?

The crash is happening even after the "quit mission" (shift+q). In the glide mode - no debriefing, just quit-to-desktop. So - just start the first training mission and immediately quit.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

You know what? You're right. I thought both CTDs were different, but after analyzing the problem more
thoroughly, I found that there's no difference between them. It's the same CTD!

This obviously means the issue can't be fixed with future releases of nGlide since it has nothing to do with
Glide API.

...but

after removing a instruction that caused CTD, I got an interesting result. ;)
If anybody's interested, here's the file:
M1TP2 experimental patch.

The trouble is - the game ctd only in the glide mode. So - of course nGlide was targeted as the culprit.
I have tested the patch, the debriefing is now working. The only trouble is - bugged cursor (system cursor is active, game cursor is 1/4 screen upper).
Damn, can't make the screenshot, Xp is breaking prtscr palette for 256-color modes...

P.S. Ok, I made the photo of the screen.

By the way, Zeus, can you be more specific about your's patch? Like offset/asm before/asm after. Because there are versions 1.0 and 1.1. Plus maybe the US and UK releases are different...

great, thanks i will try the experimental patch
- its a shame with the errors that occur - software mode i found goes crazy colours after a while and direct 3d mode has been crashing to desktop also but not always after mission end exactly - though these are other matters outside of nglide- i am just hoping for nglide to be the saviour and deliver this game from its destruction at the hands of unrelenting changes to windows operating systems
i wish people could understand out there that we dont all want to just play the newest games and most of them are vapid console ports with graphics trying to hard to be real and then just falling into the uncanny valley - i love the graphics of m1tank platoon - the overall texture and feel is wonderful as well as the strategy i could go on but i wont, as anyone reading this and checking the nglide site and forums about would know what i am talking about

regards

well so far so good - playing windows 7 and no crash after mission - sure the menus look ugly with the colours all mixed up but they are still navigable and the game itself is more important

Try ACT fixes:
EmulateTextColor
EmulateUSER
ForceDefaultSystemPaletteEntries
PaletteRestore

hi thanks

i have tried those in windows 7 but to no avail and in fact with those in place i couldnt get out by CAD without first going into a game- attempting to exit from the menus with corrupted colours just would throw me back into the game strangely
