Hardwar

Postby Gamecollector » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:10 am

1st - as mentioned in the patch readme, 3dfx support in the original release is broken for any resolution except 640x400.
After the intro, the game CTD with "the instruction at 1000665c referenced memory at 00000000..." Maybe the game is simply Xp incompatible.

Now, with the 2.04 patch glide3 support was added...
With glide2 - CTD with MS VC++ runtime error: R6025 - pure virtual function call.
With glide3 the game run, but with artifacts (looks like the troubles with blending):

Tested with P4 3GHz, Ati X850 PE AGP (catalyst 10.2 with OGL from 7.11), WinXpSp3, nGlide 0.95.

P.S. ok, the game was also tested with WinME (Catalyst 6.2) by me.
Glide2 version can't find needed video memory, even with 640x400.
Glide3 - the same glitches as in Xp.
Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 GB DDR400 (3-3-3-8),
Radeon HD3850 AGP (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
2 Voodoo2 12 MB (SLI), Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Gulf War: Operation Desert Hammer

Another little win-glide game...
The game configuration utility (vw.exe) have severe compatibility troubles with xp. No videocard detected etc. In fact - this utility don't run even with WinME for me (GPF in user.exe).
To run the game in 3dfx mode - create shortcut to exes\3dfx_r.exe with the main game directory as the working catalog. No compatibility modes are needed.
The game worked perfectly, except white textures sometimes (target after hit, as example):

To run the game in Xp - Win98 compatibility is needed.
The game uses glide3. The only glitch founded is - no spinning bike model in the team selection menu in glide mode.

FIFA 2001

Postby Gamecollector » Sun Mar 27, 2011 8:30 pm

3dsetup.exe found nglide wrapper as "glide device".
The only trouble is - dx mode still used by default.
So - regedit, "HKLM\Software\EA Sports\FIFA 2001\Thrash driver" to "voodoo2".
P.S. in Win9x OS/compatibility mode detection is still broken. Use attached .reg.

No visual glitches were founded.

Same as FIFA 2001. Detected as "glide device", "HKLM\Software\EA Sports\2002 FIFA World Cup TM\Thrash driver" must be set to voodoo2, no compatibility mode is needed.

The main menu have a little graphical bug (vertical line).

Standard EA Sports routine. :) No visual errors detected.

P.S. There is the official FIFA 2000 3dsetup patch. With it - nglide is detected as "glide device", you again need to set "thrash driver" to voodoo2 etc.

Charybdis/EA, 1998.

The game found nGlide and run itself in 3dfx mode.
No visual errors detected.

There is a strange effect when the piece of terrain pass "detail border" - looks like the ground level go down. In the software mode too, so - this is not nGlide issue. Not sure about source of this - the game engine or the Catalyst drivers?

F-22 Lightning 3

Postby Gamecollector » Sat Apr 16, 2011 8:16 pm

Novalogic, 1999.

Well, I have the same trouble with this game as with Driver:
http://img38.imageshack.us/i/f22lightning3.jpg/.
More testing is needed...
The main culpit is - Catalyst drivers.
Patched version of game - the same result.

Novalogic, 1998.

The same behavior as F-22 Lightning 3.
With the patches - for Voodoo Rush and the official update - still the same issue.
