Several Problems

Postby psychofaktory » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:38 pm

First: Thank you for developing this great software!

But there are still some problems with it:
Since I installed nGlide, following games won't run anymore: Quake 2 incl all add-ons, Quake 3 Arena, Quake 3 Team Arena, and Kingpin. Before installing nGlide they were running perfectly.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein didn't run too, but since version 0.95 it works. Althought i think bevore installing nGlide it looked much more beautiful.

An option to turn off nGlide for playing those games would be nice i think.

Another bug i had was in Need for Speed 4. When going to graphics-settings ingame and switch the resolution, the game won't start for the next time. So i had to re-install the game.

That's interesting cause Q3A hasn't got support for Glide and Q2 and Kingpin is supported by nGlide.

Could you be more specific what exactly is wrong? Do games shutdown without any warning?
What are results with nGlide 0.94?
Please post your processor and graphics card model, operating system.

If I try to start Quake 2 or Kingpin nothing happens. No Warnings no Window opens...
If I try to start Quake 3 the little window with the blue background opens (for loading the opengl i think) an then nothing happens too.
It's the same it looked by starting Return to Castle Wolfenstein with version 0.94
Between version 0.94 and 0.95 there aren't any differences with that problem, exept Return to Castel Wolfenstein is running now.

My System:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD4780
OS: Windows XP 32bit

All drivers including DirectX are up-to-date.

... and now if you uninstall nGlide by nGlide uninstaller are games working again?
Do you have opengl32.dll or any dll files in your Q3A directory?

Please send me an email with files:
-opengl32.dll from x:\windows\system32
-3dfxgl.dll from x:\windows\system32 (if it's present)
-3dfxgl.dll from kingpin root directory
-3dfxgl.dll from Q2 root directory
-every dll from Q3A i Q3TA root directory (if you have any)

Also post your games versions.

After uninstalling nGlide 0.95 the games don't work too.
Re-installing the games doesn't help.

There is no opengl32.dll in the Quake 3 root-directory, but the following:
- KeyCheckDLL.dll

The Versions of the games:
- Quake 3 v1.32c
- Quake 2 v3.20
- Kingpin v1.21
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein v1.41b

3dfxgl.dll from windows/system32 is not present, the other files are in the e-mail.

After uninstalling nGlide 0.95 the games don't work too.

So now it's clear - this is not nGlide fault. OpenGL library is not working in your system.

Files on my email are exactly same as yours except opengl32.dll.

My suggestions:
-replace opengl32.dll+glu32.dll from this zip,
-check you hardware acceleration level (advanced monitor settings->troubleshooting). Slider should be on 'Full' position,
-reinstall motherboard drivers,
-if it's still doesn't work try omega drivers and older catalyst drivers,

-the last thing you can do is reinstall Windows.

Well I have the Q3 demo and you can in fact choose 'Voodoo' as the GL Driver in the graphics settings. Note that this option didn't appear until I installed nGlide. For me though, when I try and accept that, the game reverts back to the default.

I habe Q3, too, and it is the same for me. I can choose voodoo, but it sets itself back to Default after i apply.

No, it appears even without glide wrapper.

Yes, this option won't work without 3rd party OpenGL=>Glide3 wrapper like WickedGL.

WickedGL is not included in Quake 3 Arena, but it is included in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, so you can copy from it (RTCW\gl\openglv5.dll => Q3A\3dfxvgl.dll).

Sorry for reviving such an old thread. But do any of you guys who have problems with those Quake 2 and Quake 3-engine games by any chance have an ATI card? On my computer almost no Quake engine games of any sort works with Catalyst newer than 10.4. The solution is to put atioglxx.dll from the catalyst 10.4 driver into the folder of the games you can't get to work. If any of you need that file just PM me your email and I'll send it to you.
