You mean visible color banding when dialog is active? If so, that's normal. The game reads an entire screen to a buffer in 16-bit format, add the dialog to it and writes it back to a screen.
If nGlide would render in 16-bit you wouldn't notice a difference... or if the game would render the dialog in 3D on top of the rest of 3D scene instead of raw writing it.
