I agree, this is not nice effect. If we are talking about Glide API games there is a potential possibility for making software dithering. It's worth to consider implementing this in the future (if it won't take too much CPU time). Other games (non Glide) need DirectX wrapper (e.g. DirectX 6->DirectX...

Try to select 'Windows XP compatibility mode' and check 'Disable desktop composition' option.
You may encounter sound stuttering problem, but for now I don't have the solution.

The best is to play this game in real Windows XP.

Of course there is a way. Simply change 'fullscreen=false' line to 'fullscreen=true' in dosbox.conf.
